This Saturday we will be at the Old Santa Ynez Days!! Come join us and show your support for the Humane Society. The day should be a nice fun day and we will have dogs with us!!!
Generalizing simply means, teaching your dog that when you ask him to perform a behavior, it means the same thing regardless of the scenario or environment you are in.
Dogs make wonderful companions and need to be treated with care and respect. Most dogs are very friendly and won’t bite. However, some dogs bite because they’re fearful, angry, frustrated or are protecting something that is valuable to them. It’s vital that you recognize not just the signs that a dog is uncomfortable, but also the situations you could be in where the chance of a bite is more likely.
Dogs generally do not tolerate heat well. While the warm summer months can be fun for humans and dogs alike, it is important to keep your dog from getting overheated. Regardless of the size or breed of dog, you should never leave any dog outside for extended periods in the heat.
It is with great pride that I am writing to you to tell you about the many accomplishments of the Board and staff of the SYV Humane Society over the past year.
